How to prepare a collection for garment production – 7 steps
· SPH MIX S.C.
The most common problem brands bring to a garment factory is not a lack of ideas but a lack of information. An incomplete inquiry means a vague quote, extra corrections and delays. We have been sewing for fashion brands in Wrocław, Poland since 1984 and know which elements speed up a production launch most.
1. Define the concept and cooperation model
Set your target group, target retail price and planned run size. Decide between CMT (you supply materials) and Full Package Production (the factory sources materials).
2. Prepare a tech pack
Front and back technical drawings, seam and finish types, trims list, label and decoration placement, packing method. It is the key document for the factory.
3. Size chart and grading
Finished measurements for the base size, increments between sizes and accepted tolerances.
4. Materials and trims
Composition, weight and colour, certification requirements (e.g. organic cotton, GOTS-standard production), shrinkage and care.
5. Prototype and pre-production sample
A fitted prototype, corrections and a pre-production sample approved in writing as the reference for the run.
6. Quote and schedule
A concrete inquiry with quantities and deadline, and agreement on what the price covers.
7. Quality control
Acceptance criteria, inspection method and defect procedure – agreed before production starts.
